Special September Meeting: Merrifield, Beltway Updates

Two major changes affecting Providence–the new Merrifield Town Center and the soon-to-be-completed Capital Beltway Express Lanes–will be the topics of a special open house co-sponsored by Providence Supervisor Linda Smyth and the Providence District Council.

This special meeting, dubbed an “Open House” by Supervisor Smyth, will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Monday, Sept. 17, in the cafeteria of Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road in Falls Church.

Both projects have been the center of massive construction work in recent years. The Town Center, also known as the Mosaic District, is scheduled to be fully open by October. The Express Lanes, originally known as HOT Lanes, are scheduled to open in December.

Developers of both projects will give an in-depth briefing on what to expect in coming months.¬†This¬†PDF of a flier prepared by Supervisor Smyth’s office provides some additional details. A 3-D rendering of the Mosaic District project is available here.

It is anticipated that these projects will be of broad community interest, so please circulate this flier to your various associations. If you have any difficulty downloading this PDF link, please e-mail contact@providencedistrictcouncil.org, and the orginal PDF will be sent to you.
