G. Ray Worley, ‘Mayor of Dunn Loring,’ Passes Away

It is with the greatest sorrow that we report the passing of G. Ray Worley, at the age of 84.

Raised in Dunn Loring and a longtime president of the Dunn Loring Improvement Association, Ray was known to many as the “mayor of Dunn Loring.” Ray also was a regular and thoughtful participant at Providence District Council meetings, and was celebrated as Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Association citizen of the year in 2004, for his advocacy of adult education. His Washington Post obituary can be read here. For those who knew him, Ray will be deeply missed.

The family will be receiving friends at the Murphy Falls Church Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad St. (Rte. 7) on Friday, May 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held  Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Columbia Baptist Church, 103 West Columbia Street in Falls Church, VA 22046. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park (7482 Lee Highway in Falls Church, VA 22042), with a reception to follow at the Grand Atrium, 2236 Gallows Rd, Vienna, VA 22027 (between Electric Avenue and Cedar Lane).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ACE Foundation, c/o G. Ray Worley Scholarship Fund, www.ace-foundation.org, or the Columbia Foundation, Columbia Baptist Church, 103 W. Columbia St., Falls Church, VA 22046.

For those who are unable to attend the interment at National Memorial Park, you are welcome to come to the reception at The Grand Atrium.
