The June 18 Providence District Council meeting will bring a progress report on MetroWest, a high-density, transit-oriented development being built on the south side of the Vienna Metro station. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm, at the Dunn Loring Administrative Center, 2334 Gallows Road, Dunn Loring, VA, 22027.
Jeff Edelman from the Pulte Group, which is building the residential portion, and Tim Alexander from Clark Realty, which is building the commercial portion, will explain the current plans and proposed timetable for continued development.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved plans for MetroWest in 2004 and 2005, with later adjustments in 2008, but the economy slowed progress on the development.
People driving near the Vienna Metro station have been watching the new development take shape during the last year. Vaden Road has been extended between Saintsbury Drive and Route 29. Townhouses have been built near Route 29 and 2-on-2 townhome/ condominiums are being built on Vaden. The Vienna Metro station’s south entrance and Saintsbury Drive have been reconstructed to open the Metro entrance to what will become a new town center.
When complete, the project will have multiple high-rise buildings of 10 to 14 stories near the Metro, as well as the townhouses and condominiums. There also will be a Fairfax County recreation center containing a police substation and the District Supervisor’s offices.
To enter the building, use Entrance 2. Also, please inform members of your organization about this program.
